Getting ready for Hari Raya - Raya Edition 2022
Ramadan has once again arrived, and Raya celebrations are just around the corner! Every Hari Raya, friends and families bond over scrumptious food and gifts to celebrate the end of a month of sacrifice and prayer.
The festival of Eid, known as Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Singapore, is a Muslim holiday that falls on the first day of Syawal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the start of a Muslim New Year, but a celebration to mark the end of Ramadan – the fasting month. This day is an occasion for forgiveness among family members and a time to share delicious meals together.

Feeling like you're not ready for Hari Raya? Here are some things you can do to get yourself prepared for it!
- Clean and dec and Cookies
The spirit of the Hari Raya is all about bringing joy and happiness to those around us. We can all agree that the most exciting part has got to be the gorging of tasty snacks. What better way to indulge than preparing some homemade traditional snacks together with your family? Make an assortment of bite-sized sweet treats that everyone will enjoy – from honey cornflakes, pineapple tarts and kuih makmur; to kuih semprit.
2. Service Your car or book your car rental early
Right before the big day, don't forget to go for the requisite servicing and cleaning for your car so that it is sparkling clean for visiting. You can even get a few car accessories to commemorate the happy occasion. If you don't have a car, it may be a good idea to consider a car rental to make house visiting that much more convenient and cost-effective.
3. Plan your Raya outfits in advance
Like everyone else, you’ll want to look your best during Raya, do plan early and go shopping with your family to get Baju Kurung and Baju Kebaya. When you're shopping, remember to coordinate with your family members so everyone is wearing the same colour. After all, it's nicer when the whole family dresses alike.
4. Prepare Your Gifts and Green Envelopes
Hari Raya – A timely occasion to give special gifts to loved ones to show appreciation and affection. Start shopping, choosing and packing your gifts. If you’re giving out green packets, remember to visit your bank or ATM early to avoid long queues.
